Small Claims Court
The Ontario Small Claims Court allows individuals and businesses to commence civil claims against other individuals, corporations, and/or partnerships for monetary amounts of up to $50,000. Common matters heard in Small Claims Court include employment disputes, contract disputes, tort claims, renovation disputes, liens, automotive repair disputes, and other civil matters.
Various Ontario laws and regulations are intended to promote fair dealings between parties involved in agreements and consumer transactions. Certain legislation also governs specific industries, businesses, and contractual relationships between individuals and companies.
