Statutory Accident Benefits
Statutory Accident Benefits (SABS) provide financial and medical support to individuals injured in motor vehicle accidents in Ontario, regardless of fault. These benefits are governed under the Insurance Act and the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule, and can include income replacement, medical and rehabilitation funding, attendant care, housekeeping assistance, non-earner benefits, and death and funeral benefits. Disputes often arise when insurance companies deny eligibility, terminate benefits prematurely, dispute the necessity of treatment, or challenge assessments such as catastrophic impairment determinations.
